Non-Government Affiliation Disclaimer: MatricET is an independent educational examination preparation app developed and operated solely by Abopia Tech. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or representing the Ministry of Education (MoE) of Ethiopia or the Educational Assessment and Examinations Service (EAES). All curriculum content and practice exam questions are compiled from publicly available academic curricula for student self-study.

MatricET ("the App") is developed and operated by Abopia Tech as an educational platform to help secondary school students prepare for national matriculation and university entrance exams. This Privacy Policy informs users regarding our practices concerning the collection, use, transmission, encryption, and deletion of personal data when using our service.

1. Information We Collect

In full compliance with Google Play Developer Policies and Data Safety requirements, MatricET collects only the minimal data necessary for core features, study progress persistence, and account security:

2. How We Use Your Data

Account Management & Security: Authenticate student accounts, maintain active login sessions, and protect against fraudulent multi-device account sharing.
Educational Content Delivery: Track personal learning progress, generate test scorecards, compute accuracy percentages, and sync offline study packs.
Leaderboards & Challenges: Display user-submitted scores, ranks, and display names on public period standings and live subject challenges.
Notifications: Send timely push alerts about upcoming challenge rounds and educational reminders via Firebase Cloud Messaging.

3. Third-Party Service Providers & Infrastructure

We work with trusted third-party infrastructure providers that process data strictly in accordance with their respective privacy policies:

Supabase Inc.: Cloud database, backend APIs, and secure user authentication.
Google Firebase: Push notification routing and delivery (Firebase Cloud Messaging).

We do not sell, rent, or monetize your personal or academic information to any third parties or data brokers.

4. Data Encryption & Security

All communication between the MatricET application and our cloud infrastructure is encrypted in transit using modern Transport Layer Security (TLS/HTTPS). Database access is safeguarded by strict Row Level Security (RLS) policies, ensuring users can only read and modify their own private records. Downloaded offline question bundles and study notes are stored securely on the user's local device storage via SQLite.

5. Advertising & Financial Clarification

No Third-Party Ads: MatricET is completely free of third-party advertisements. We do not use Google Mobile Ads (AdMob) or any advertising tracking SDKs, and we do not collect or track Google Advertising IDs (GAID).
Free Educational Application: MatricET is distributed as a completely free educational platform. The application does not collect, process, or store any financial information, credit/debit card numbers, bank PINs, or transaction data. There are no paid in-app purchases processed through the application.

6. Children’s Privacy (COPPA Compliance)

MatricET is designed for Ethiopian secondary school students preparing for Grade 12 National University Entrance Examinations (typically ages 13 and older). We do not knowingly solicit or collect personally identifiable information from children under the age of 13. If we become aware that personal information of a child under 13 has been collected without verifiable parental consent, we will promptly delete that information from our servers.

7. User Data Deletion & Account Erasure

Users have the absolute right to request permanent deletion of their account, test history, bookmarks, and all associated personal data at any time. You can choose either of the following deletion options:

Method A: Request Web Deletion (Without App Installed)

If you have uninstalled the app or are unable to log in, you can submit an account erasure request directly from your registered email address:

Method B: Instant In-App Deletion

You can immediately and permanently purge your account and database records directly from within the app:

Open the MatricET app on your device.
Navigate to Profile → Edit Profile → Delete Account (or Account Settings → Delete Account).
Confirm your password to initiate an immediate, irreversible wipe of your account, scores, and personal records from our servers.

What Data is Deleted Upon Account Erasure

User Profile & Credentials: Full name, email address, encrypted password, and academic stream preferences.
Device & Session Data: Active login session state and app-generated device UUID links.
Academic Progress & History: Exam attempts, question answers, test scores, saved study notes, bookmarks, and challenge records.
Push Notification Records: Notification history and Firebase Cloud Messaging tokens.

Data Retention & Erasure Timeline

Instant In-App Deletion: All personal data and database records are permanently purged from Supabase immediately upon password confirmation.
Email Requests: Requests sent to abopiatech@gmail.com are processed and permanently deleted across all databases within 7 business days.
Aggregated Data: We do not retain any personal data. Fully anonymized question difficulty metrics (e.g. general percentage of students answering a question correctly) without any user identifiers may be retained to improve exam quality.
